My Wine Experience

I would say I have had very little experience with wine so far in my life. The majority of the wine I've had is Franzia which isn't the best tasting. One of my old roommates is actually the one who would buy it most of the time and let me have some. I have ever never gone out and bought a bottle of wine at a store or a restaurant. From these experiences, I would say I am not a big fan of wine because I have not tasted one that I actually liked. However, I have noticed more people drinking wine on a consistent basis which has made me want to buy wine, but I don't know what I should look for a don't want to waste money on something I won't like.

I can confidently say that I do not like the taste of Franzia. However, the white wine Franzia tasted better than the red. This makes me think that I would prefer to buy white wines rather than red if I were to go out to get some. Furthermore, I believe I would prefer sweeter wines because I do not like bitter or tart drinks. Also, I have never had wine with a meal. The times that I have had wine are scenarios where it was just something there to drink and wasn't for any special occasion or anything like that.

One of the main things I want to learn from this course is how to read wine labels and make an educated purchase when buying wine. At liquor stores there are just so many different types of wine that I have no knowledge of so it makes me not want to buy any in fear of getting a bad wine. This would be helpful because drinking wine instead of the other drinks I tend to consume would be healthier. Also, I want to learn how to simply enjoy wine and get the most out of the experience. My experiences so far have deterred me from purchasing wine, but the lectures and other videos I have watched so far have changed my mind. I am looking forward to tasting different wines and pairing them with food throughout this semester.
